EF details (rim damage)? Just a stab.

I am thinking this is planchet damage, rather than coin damage, and I cheated, so I know the grade, which is about what I would have guessed.

I know the grade also. But no cheating. I only ask because the 2 coins I posted have me

I think for this one we have a damaged planchet, but a coin that was pretty well struck, then barely circulated. The detail in the first photo is super. A bit less in the second.

For the 1775, it is a bit tougher to tell from the photos. If the damage is planchet damage (and not later corrosion), and the strike is weak, it might have gotten the same grade, even though it looks much less appealing (I think this is the point made by Jan1may, who has certainly seen many of these). The older the coin, the more you see anomalies like this where the grade doesn't correlate with eye appeal. As in this case:

gVF to aEF - overall light wear.

Agree about Planchet, low value kopek coins of the 18th century did not get the loving care silver and gold did.

Finally - what a nice coin - most 18th century Russian copper I see is worn flat or barely readable (Especially Dengas and Polushkas)

I would agree with the slab grade. These come with terrible planchets.
