Small strike-through on reverse by "FG" has the shape of a "P' or "b". Was tricky to photograph. What likely caused this?

Looks like the nine is on fire with this die chip on obverse.

If the mark is incuse, it may have come from post strike damage from a or a struck through? Can't tell any more from the image provided.

Yes, it's incuse Coop. Really hard to photo because it runs half on field then half on memorial then through the "G" in "FG". I don't see any "pushed metal" so I'm thinking struck through.

It looks like wire and also a #9 or letter b.

I outlined what I'm seeing here. Is this just coincidence?

Any guesses what this is?

I would think it would be pushing thinking any more than a wire or struck through dropped letter. On on no Lincoln Cent is there a closed '6' or '9' on any year that that series. The digits are open on all of them.

Thanks Coop, I'll put a question mark on the 2x2 I put it in.

Just had a thought that it could be a flipped over dropped "R" (missing the R leg or stem) on LIBERTY from the obverse.

Well keep in mind it would have to be the exact shape and size of the designs devices.

I would still appreciate any opinions on what the CCF thinks this is, Thanks!

I was asked to chime in. The most likely explanation, in my opinion, is that the coin was struck through a short filament that curled back on itself to form something resembling a circle. It's too small and too irregular to be a dropped 9 or any sort of dropped filling.
Error coin writer and researcher.
