I apologise for my lack of experience in this area, so please excuse my terminology. Can anyone tell me what I am looking at here? The coin looks silver but it is stamped a penny. Any help appreciated.

To CCF! I think it might be a Dryer Coin. PSD. Worth face value, since it's been damaged. Not an error coin.

I think the 'silver' you are seeing is actually the zinc where the copper plating has worn off.
