Quote: You will love it or hate it I'm actually not sure how I feel. It's unique. It's definitely attractive, or at least I think. It's just unusual. Most of us aren't used to toned gold, so it's a bit odd when we do. Also, when I say toned we all think differently. For example, if I say "beautifully toned Morgan dollar", what just popped into your head? I promise you didn't think of the same coin the next person did. The other component is gold cannot tone on the same color spectrum as silver or copper, and has a tendency to be a bit "more grungy" so to speak. That aside, as far as grade. Obv: MS64+ Rev: MS62 Net MS-63

MS64 I think it's an interesting and pretty coin IMO.

I haven't seen much toned gold and this is an interesting, beautiful example. Grading- for me, the marks by and on the motto on the rev. are a little distracting and the obv. strike seems a bit weak. MS62+ in my humble opinion. Cool coin!

The 10% copper in the gold alloy is the reason for the toning. Not copper red gold all over, therefore circulation cameo, most probably caused by cabinet friction on the high points of the design, both sides.

I'll say the reverse holds it to 63, or perhaps 64 at the outside. I love it, and the color will no doubt add to the grade.

I'd say MS-63. I love the unusual toning, very cool piece!

MS-63, looks like it was stored in a leather pouch for many years.

It's a nice example, but there are a lot of small marks on it. I don't see this one going higher than MS-63.

This one is MS63. I think it can be 63+ with its 64/65 type luster but I just had it reholdered to get the true view, and no regrade. The scratches on the reverse keep it at 63 to me aswell.

congratulation on a nice pick up. Did you have to pay a premium for the toning?
