Hello, I Am brand new to the forum relatively new to forums in general. I have been pinching Pennies from circulation part of my life and so did my father. Nothing serious nothing more than looking at change every now and then recently decided to start going through the little piles of coins that I have before they got lost or spent. My collection is primarily circulated coins and I collect for the beauty and treasure hunting aspect. However I'm not expecting to find some million dollar coin, if anything I want to have the Best collection of the ugliest coin. I found that some of my ugliest coins are the most unique. So I do have a coin that I have a question about, I believe this coin has multiple things going on with it but I would love some feedback and I will leave it at that thank you. This is my 1991 D Jefferson nickel, the topic of toning on it is not anything I'm concerned about, I am looking for opinions on the strike Edited by Maui CoinHunter 03/04/2020 05:38 am

To CCF , the only thing I'm going to say about this Nickel is the multi colored toning . Pretty darn sure it's AT , artificial toning done with heat and or open flame . The rest of the issues with this coin will be answered by others .

to CCF. It is DDD and the toning looks nice, weather or not it is NT or AT I do not know. John1

Also it has Machine Doubling. Keeper for the toning. It probably was in the mint cellophane for long time.

Harshly cleaned, artificially toned, late die state with some serious die wear and Die Deterioration around much of the lettering on the reverse.
