Tiny dent on cheek next to nose (obv), and in field behind eagle's head (rev). MS-64.
Not so much my opinion: I am trying to put myself in the mind of the TPGrader.

Solid MS-65 or better. Beautiful example.

Not to blow smoke as I think the term is, but that is most gorgeous $2.5 gold Indian I have ever seen, like no joke. MS-66 from me.

Westernsky wins, but you were are right on with this one. MS65 CAC but cleaner then most ms65s ive seen cac or not. This one might be worth resubbing. Think so?

It didn't 66 because of the hit on the cheek behind the nose, the hit in the feathers and the scattered hairlines below the T and the Y in "Liberty".
If PCGS thought it was a 66 they would have graded it as such. The green bean people are spot on saying the coin is nice for the grade. (I think it is exceptional for the grade!)
I think a resub at this time would not be worthwhile. If it were mine I'd enjoy it as is and maybe in a few years down the road, and if grading standards loosen up, consider another look at a possible upgrade.
Very nice and very pretty coin!

Thanks western! I knew I had to pull the trigger on this one as I dont consider MS66 buyable for this type but this coin almost does it. Ive been into these 2.5 indians since I was a kid, they are my favorite. I just recently figured is start a set. Some will be as highly graded as I can afford, (like this one) and some indians may be lower graded if they have cool toning or a look. Or maybe ill have a few doubles on each end of the spectrum.. This one really caught my eye with the matched color all over in the true view. Also this issue is known to have a proof like look so after seeing the true view its time to see the coin!
Zurie id say 65+ is right on aswell

OP - Sounds like a fun, and expensive, project to put a set of these together. Please keep us posted with progress pictures.
Enjoy the ride! I know I would!
