Large-Chinese-Cash-Type:-Real-Or-Fantasy/-Fake

This is uniface, 10.9 grams, 35 millimeters. It has a rim of modest thickness.

I cannot match the images with any recent emperor.

So, fake, fantasy, or something else?

The coin design is of Song Dynasty type, a 5 cash coin of the Chong Ning era of emperor Hui Zong (a period lasting from AD 1102 to 1107). This emperor was a talented calligraphist, and records indicate he personally designed his coinage, using his own handwriting; the script on this coin is known as "Slender Gold" script.

As for authenticity, it could certainly be genuine; the coins, despite being nearly a thousand years old, are quite common - the Empire was going through a turbulent period of history, and unfortunately, Hui Zong was a better calligraphist than an emperor. A lot of coins of this time period ended up being buried and subsequently lost, as China's armies were killed off by barbarians while the emperor's treacherous ministers enriched themselves at the Empire's expense.

@sap, thanks. Yes, it does match that emperor, although my Fischer indicates several similar types, one of minimal value, the other maybe worth a few dollars, so I will need to work on narrowing it down.

As to your story, sad to say it sounds all too familiar and it seems that little has changed in human nature in the last 1000 years.
