I got in from work yesterday after having spent the last 2 weeks out in the middle of nowhere. I was jonesing to get to my local dealer as he's been liquidating his inventory as he prepares to move to Florida. It's been bothering me to no end that I KNOW that I'm missing some crazy deals while I've been away.
Anyway I got there and couldn't quit pulling stuff and putting it in my buy pile. I seriously have little idea of what I've bought, only that I spent exactly $50.
So as I go through my bag I'm going to tally it up here.
The largest $ item I bought was a 1982 PD souvenir set that contained all of the clads except for the 82P nickel. This set cost $20, but it has a better 82P dime in it than I have in my current set (which I paid right at $20 for by itself).
I spent $3 on a folder of Jeffersons. 33 coins in the folder. 38P UNC is what caught my eye, just noticed that the 38D and 39S are included both in F.
$15 was spent on an old whitman album of Lincoln Cents 1909-1940. 60 cents in the album. What caught my eye was the 24S in EF. No super scarce dates, but the grades of what is there are better than I've seen in a junk album in a while. Average grade prior to 15 is G4, from 15 through 29 average grade is ~12, from 30 on they're mostly all ef or better (couple of UNC towards the end).
And this is where it gets fun... I've got a stack of over 100 Lincolns in 2x2's that I spent a total of $12 on... I have a feeling you might end up seeing some of these int the BST forum before to long.
09P - EF 25P - VF - Lamination Error 25P - AU RB 27P - AU 28P - UNC RD 29P - AU 37P - UNC RB 38P - UNC RB 40P - AU RB 41D - AU 43P - UNC (X2) 43D - UNC 44P - UNC RB (X11) 44D - UNC RD (X3) 45P - UNC RB / RD (X8) 46P - UNC RD (X3) 46D - UNC RD (X2) 46S - UNC BR 47D - UNC RB / RD (X4) 48D - UNC BR (X2) (HIGH MS) 49D - UNC RD (X2) 50P - UNC RD 50D - UNC RD (X3) 51D - UNC RB 52P - UNC RB 52D - UNC RD (X2) 52S - UNC RD 53P - UNC RD (X4) 53D - UNC RD (X10) 54D - UNC RD 54S - UNC RD (X3) 55P - UNC RD (X4) 55D - UNC RD 55S - UNC RD (X2) 57D - UNC RD (X12) 58P - UNC RD (X3) 58D - UNC RD
All in all a pretty fun day.
EDIT: I guess there are 99 2x2's and not over a 100... Looked like over 100 when I dumped them on my table. Edited by SpringCypress 10/26/2008 6:23 pm

there are a couple of coins out there which I would love to pay book prices for. Well struck 82 clads are some of them. I spent nearly a year looking for an 82 to fit into my album.
Wouldn't you know it, that as soon as I bought one another would turn up in the same month.

I'm glad to see future collectors will face some challenges in putting together clad sets.

Quote: biggfredd: "I'm glad to see future collectors will face some challenges in putting together clad sets." That could be the understatement of the year! MichelleK wanted a 2003-D Dime for her folder, so I figured that would be 'easy enough', and commenced searching through mixed circulated Dime rolls.... After going through $200 in Dime rolls this month, I did find two 2003-D dimes and one 2003-P Dime. "2003" was by far the rarest 'clad' year found in this hunt! I found eight 1965's, seven 1966's, nine 1967's, six 1968's, and seven 1969's (compared to only three 2003's! ) That's three Dimes, out of 2,000! That's really low, considering that I found four silver dimes in this same roll hunt, including a 1956 Proof!

Glad I cut my set off at 2000!
I ran out of holes in my album after adding in the P Proofs and a couple of varieties.

Exactly why I like using Whitman Albums rather than other brands. Additional Blank pages are always available for all coins. And their Album covers are expandable to hold many, many pages. I can still add Dimes in my Albums for a long time. I've purchased those rub off Gold colored letters and numbers from Whitman to match their normal dates and add them to the blank pages as needed. Never had a problem with Unc dimes since I order several Unc sets from the Mint each year and open them for the albums.
