I have a 1923 Mercury dime (or part of one) that I am trying to distinguish whether it is a mint error or after mint damage. I have never seen an error so severe but I am pretty new at this... Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you in advance for you help and time!!

This is not a mint error, it is post mint damage. PMD.

Our Mint is not perfect but something like that would never get sent out anywhere.
