A few questions for you like-minded friends:

1) Is this a normal color for a Barber quarter?
2) How do you calculate rotation? I've seen different ways that contradict and wonder what is accepted.
3) Do I have anything unique here? I rotated top toward camera, and the book corner can be used as reference.

I appreciate any advice you all have for a beginner.

Thanks!

Neat.

Normal color? Looks normal to me.

Degree of rotation? Either 120 degrees or 240 degrees. All depends on how you measure the rotation ....cw or ccw.

Value? What ever someone that collects this stuff is willing to pay for it.

Probably not unique. If you can search through enough 1898 quarters out in coinland you'll probably find other ones.

Oh, by the way .... .... to the Community!

Thank you both! This is exactly the info I hoped for. It is a coin my grandfather gave me that he probably found in his pocket change years ago and has always been a mysterious curiosity to me.

I suppose there are collectors of rotated Barber coins, but I'd be surprised if it merits a premium.

That is a significant rotation and would add value in my opinion. A normal 1898 quarter in Very Good (about the grade for this coin) is common and would sell for maybe $10. This piece is likely worth significantly more.
I like it!
BTW the color looks OK for a circulated silver coin.
