Don't think this is worth anything big but was still curious what it is. I have been through a lot of coins and haven't see one so just thought I would ask. Plus I haven't posted anything yet today and don't want to break the streak.

Minor die chip. One this size won't add any value to the coin, but it is an error. If you find a big one it can be worth a good amount, especially large Cuds (die chip on the rim of the coin) and major die breaks.

Thank you I appreciate it. I actually found one like this on another nickel that I just threw back in the change jug but it had a die chip about that size but it connected the rim of the coin to the C. Since it wasn't very big it still wouldn't be worth anything right?

Yes correct--just face value.

A die chip can grow as the die is continued to be used. But it seems the mint like to make every nickel they can out of these dies.

Remember when a piece breaks off the die, it leaves a void on the die, and makes a raised area on the coins struck with that die. The more the die breaks off, the larger the void on the die, the larger the die chip will be on the coins.
