Yesterday I stopped at the bank and actually went in instead of the drive-through. While there I asked if they had any halves. $697 dollars worth. I emptied the vault literally. The teller couldn't carry them. Found only a few of the low-mintage coins and only one 2001, nothing later than that. It was obvious that some rolls were searched for silver by the way the dates repeated themselves. Whoever searched missed a few treasures. I got one Walker, 7 40% Kennedy's, and several variety coins. nlp

Nice catch.

What is with the last photo?
I presume a variety that I can't see?

It's the reverse of the 72D with designer initials missing between the tailfeathers and leg. This coin has had some circulation as evidenced by the wear. nlp

I thought I would try my luck today while cashing a per diem check. Asked for all the halves they had. Only 6 rolls. The teller just transfered from another bank about 15 miles away. She said someone brought in 2000 dollars worth of silve dollars and halves. Ya know the old big dollars. They sent them to the fed reserve because nobody ever ask for them. I don't know wether she was pullin my leg or If she knew what she was talkin about. Anyway I found 5 40% silver kennedys. Not bad. How much are these going for now?

newdavid, the 40% probably go for a couple bucks. Hard to judge anything with a 55% spread on silver. nlp

What's the chance of someone really dropping off silver dollars at the bank?

Really good, considering many people that inherit or steal them have no idea what they are really worth.
