1963 D Quarter Strike Through Error

Thams New Member United States 18 Posts	Posted 04/02/2020 8:54 pm So it turns out that being quarantined has sparked a new interest for me. I've been going through my large containers of change and haven't found anything but some greased strikes and Machine Doubling. I decided to go through my silver stash for giggles and stumbled across this 1963 D quarter with an interesting mark on the reverse side. I can't tell if it's post-mint damage or a possible strike through error. I know it wouldn't increase the value much even if it was a minting error, but I'm excited to find something abnormal and wanted to check with those more experienced. Any ideas? I'm interested to hear what others think. Thams New Member United States 18 Posts	Posted 04/02/2020 9:11 pm I'll need to raid the kid's stuff to see if I can find some popsicle sticks for this purpose. Maybe I can even squeeze in a science lesson with them while I'm at this. The reason I thought it might be a strike through is because the coin edge seems largely intact, which I figure would be damaged if something applied enough pressure to virtually erase some of the reverse side. On the other hand, I know all kinds of weird things can happen to coins in their lifetimes that might cause this sort of damage. Report this Post to the Staff
