I can't tell from the pic, but if that part of the coin is incuse, then someone has squished this cent and another one in a machinist's vice and transferred part of the design of that coin onto this one. On the other hand, if that part of the coin is proud, then this is dried adhesive from sticking two coins together. Either way, it didn't leave the mint looking like that. Also, welcome to CCF! jasper62 Pillar of the Community United States 2189 Posts	Posted 04/03/2020 07:13 am definitely glue. You can tell by the way the glue has dried clear. You can see the design & device's underneath. Most of the area beneath the glue still has that shiny copper look. The glue has prevented those areas from oxidizing/toning at the same rate as the rest of the coin Report this Post to the Staff
