Actually, I was at the bank trying to get some Denver Presidential dollars for one of the members here. I was specifying too exact of numbers of each president, etc and I guess the teller was getting aggravated and didn't want to inspect every coin to see if they met my wants. Finally, she pulled out an envelope of these:

What-I-Found-Today-:

and asked me if I wanted them. "Ikes!" I thought "I have never gotten any of these from anyone!" I immediately agreed exchanged for them. At the end of the transaction, the teller next to her smiled and said to her "Guess you finally got rid of them." She was no longer angry at me, and I was happier than ever!

So, moral of my story is that you should always ask around, and you might even get something much more valuable than just Ikes from ye old teller counter

Also, I got 3 Quincies. Not exactly enough, but still good

~~~My story of the day~~~
Anyone else have stories like these? I would love to hear them!
Nope, no finds in a long time, but I generally spend the Ikes.
Untill this past weekend I was spending Ike's if they were duplicates of what I already had. But I was at an auction and saw $25.00 in Ikes go fo almost $40.00. I am now rethinking my policy on Ike's. I managed to grab 40 of them at the bank on mon, and only took two for the collection. The only problem is I don't want to get hung up on the hoarding idea. At the same time I got an original roll of George Washington dollars, can't decide whether I should open looking for the D mint I need or keep it as an untouched roll. dilemma, dilemma
Wow, you can just "grab 40 at the bank"? Then they musn't be that uncommon.
Yeah now with 10 Ikes, I'm also starting to doubt their value if I keep them. I mean, I got them from the bank at face, so I'm going to profit as long as I don't use it (or keep it).
So now I'm contacting my local coin stores so see if I can get rid of all of them with exception to the 1971 one, so ......... decisions..........
Also for the GW dollars, if they're from NF Strings and Sons, then all of them will be the same mint, and that depends on where you live.
i found out several months ago that my parents had been hoarding coins to save for their grandkids. since I'm an only child and won't be getting married or having kids anytime soon...and since I am not into coin collecting, my mother gave them to me. I got some of everything...susan b anthony, ben Franklin half dollar (never saw those before), Kennedy half dollar, Mercury dimes (never saw those either), Buffalo nickles (not them either), barber 5 cent piece, and...ikes.
the really old coins are either corroded or close to corroded. the younger ones, ike, ben granklin, are just plain worn. I figured they were worth nothing more than maybe a few cents above face value...now after that story I'm wondering if they might be worth much more. nbut then again, I ain't in this for the money...well, in a way I am. I'm just not in it for the money I could get by selling them. I just like having unusal coins. but one duplicate ike could get me a president I don't have.
The roll is nf string and sons. I live just outside of philly so I guess that means they're P mint. So do I keep or spend? Hmmmm. I did manage to pick up 3 64 kennedys for $11.oo and a 75 with 76 guarter half and dollar also for $11.00 bucks at the auction
Well, the general consensus is that the 50 State Quarters won't be going up in value anytime soon. If they're from about 2006 or earlier, I suggest you keep them. Otherwise, I think you should just get one quarter from every state and put it in a book.
Well, each 50c has about $3.5 in silver alone, and with this 3 year low in silver, I say that you got a good deal! Keep those for sure!
