I haven a 1965 Jefferson nickel that someone has stamped a "P" mint mark above Monticello on the reverse. I do not think this was done at the Mint. Does anyone have any info on this nickel? PS I have used the image optimizer and nowhere can I find "save image". Where is it or what am I doing wrong?
Sure it not a 1945-P? If so then it is a War Nickel. No U.S. coins had mintmarks on the 1965-1967 coins. So if it is incuse. (below the fields) then it is a counter stamp added to the coin.
