I found this in my pocket change,I'm new to this and wondering if this coin is doubled on both sides or/and a Close AM (totally clueless *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***
Note all the affected areas your looking at are closest to the rim. (always in that direction) Most of the time Machine Doubling has a movement direction on the devices on the altered side. Doubled dies often follow a pattern in direction. Sometimes getting weaker from the hub misalignment. Class 1 doubled dies are usually a rotation of the hub in a CCW/CW direction. Class 2 doubled dies are often found on the outside edges of the devices. (these can be worn off the die in later die states) But Die Deterioration Doubling appears in the direction of the closest rims. That is what you are seeing. An aging die moving in the direction that is has for the first 500K strikes. It just shows up on the coins when it gets past middle age. The later the die state, the stronger it becomes: Note the devices are not affected, the fields are on the single squeeze dies as they age.
