1958 D. I Saw That The "D" Was Extremely Close To The Date.

The "D" is practically touching the date.

They were hand punched into the dies until 1990 when it is part of the design. So they can vary in locations. That is a good thing as they locations of the mintmarks could be used for ID-ing the doubled dies and RPMs easier. So after 1990, there are no more RPMs. If the mintmark is doubled after that year, then it is part of a doubled die. IE 1995-D DDO-003:

Note the lower serif on the mintmark. It is part of the DDO. (Not a RPM after 1990)

It happens! Mint marks were punched into the die by hand back in them days.

It's pretty close, but not unheard of.

For sure that one is a little closer than typical, but we usually say not worth a premium unless the mintmark is actually touching the date.
