Take pictures of the 'entire' coin Obv and Rev first. Then zoom in on the area in question and explain what you think you are seeing.

Just looks like wear. I doubt it's an error. It looks too worn.

Well it's not an error. The coin didn't leave the mint looking like that. It's a worn V nickel that someone probably beat with a hammer or did something else to it, You have the coin how would that be an error?
