I'll say EF-45, possibly AU-50.

EF40 There is significant wear on the eyebrow, earlobe and hair above the ear. On the reverse wear is apparent at the upper left of the shield and the left maple leaf.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

Great 1946 Design!
It's on the EF-40/EF-45 bubble. It's a little hard to judge toning from the photos. Nothing on the wear or contact marks suggests a detail coin. IMHO, assuming it has original toning and hasn't been cleaned, it straight grades as an EF-40.
That's a tough one to find above VF. Nice coin!

That is the "hoof through 6", not "design in 6". The design in 6 has only a single crack inside the 9. The "hoof" has a double, thick crack. I would never give that an EF, VF-30 at the very, very, very most. A Geo. VI EF 50 cents should still have a little lustre in the lettering, and on the reverse. Next thing you know, it's going to NGC and gets, voila, AU-53. Here are the Design in 6 and Hoof in 6:

The 6 seems to be very prone to die chips. There are several different 'Design in 6' configurations that can be found.
