Well, its getting cold out again, so its time to resume my other addiction of coins and these forums! :) So my mother just started a new job at a bank as a teller etc... She calls the other day asking me what years the quarters were silver. I told her anything 64 and older. I'm like why? She says a guy came in with $270 face value of all old 40's & 50's quarters. They told him that he should keep them but he didn't care and dumped them. So she wasn't sure if she should buy them. I told her to go there asap and buy them up, only to find out the next day one of her co-workers beat her to it! All I can say is that we missed out big time on that deal! I would have been fine if he took them back, but it really stinks someone else bought them! My mother now knows to keep anything odd, I made her a list!! Anyways, good to be back!

i think thats only for better everything that happens is supposed to be that way, maybe those were counterfeits since he didn't keep them

Unless he's doing a huge amount of volume, it just doesn't seem like it would be cost effective.

As for 11's being lucky, I might have believed that if the story ended differently!

I hope so too! I still shake my head at missing out on those. I have zero luck when it comes to stuff like this.
My mother acutally knew the old man that came in, so I know for a fact that they were not counterfeits, like CH says, not worth it if you turn them in for face.
I'll let you know when the next big thing happens. Its a small town so it wont happen often, but when it does, its usually good stuff!
