Been interested in coins for a long time and its about time to start really seeing what I can find. Decided to test waters with a little treasure hunt on $10 in penny rolls found roughly 35-40 1982's and 83' that I haven't gone through yet but also found this and don't know what to make of it. Thoughts

John1 Thanks fur giving me a direction to go. First time I've seen a ring under the lettering like that and raised lettering on the back. Would you have any advise for someone who's wanting to get into "treasure hunting" beyond finding a "cool coin" in there pocket? Generally starting with pennies cause that's about all I know anything on.

To CCF! Other than a Very Late Die State coin, it's normal. It's a spender.

When you make a post about an error, it really helps if you explain what you're seeing and where you're seeing it. Otherwise, it can be very hard to tell from the image, and can be like playing one of those "spot the differences" games.

If you have a car, there are so many terms that would explain what you have. Same with a coin when you say it has an error. That is as vague as say you have a car. People misuse terms. A coin that is damaged is now a face value coin. If you have a coin that is a die event, it is common coin. All the dies go through a certain exact process a million times. If you have a mint error, they are usually a one time event. Wrong planchet error, double struck, off center, struck through debris, planchet error and on and on. These are one time happenings. A die event could happen as much as 1/2 a million times, from just one die pair. (making them a common event) If you have a die all the coins struck by that die will have the same die variety. So to come in and say you have an error, what is it? Always good to know.
