I noticed worn area on the cheeks and wondered if that indicates artificial toning or not? The edge shows what looks like the alloy mix through coin. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/20/2020 7:12 pm Roller lines are on the new copper planchets. These are on these coins, but under the BU finish. You really start seeing these when the mint finish is gone. But you have a coin with an poorly mixed planchet of copper and zinc that was not mixed completely. On these the coins can wear down and you will still see the woody lines. But on rolling lines they can wear off the coin in time because they are surface.
