Need some help, still don't quite have this down yet, but I did score this 1878 P 8tf Morgan for dirt cheap! I see doubling under the scope on a lot of letters, obverse and reverse, also on the I in "In God We Trust" maybe on the leaves as well I don't know. It looks like their is separation on the serrfis under the scope, maybe its a VAM? Help needed please.

I'm thinking it's just Machine Doubling. When I look at Morgan dollars for DDO I always look at the word LIBERTY first.

Here's a 1878 7/8 TF VAM-38 with heavy doubling on the obverse. It's displays the strongest doubling on the Morgan series.

Can I please get some close ups of the lower part of the eagles wing where
it meets the legs? Both sides would help.

So after a little more digging and a point in the right direction from suipakpaikungfu I believe I've figured out this coin is a HOT 50 1878-P VAM-8 Stick Feather 8TF. It has all the markers in the pics and I will post a link directly to the description of the VAM-8. Please let me know what y'all think, if I'm correct and if it's worth something.

Most definitive marker is the two leaves separated from the branch and the overpollished middle of the wreath. Also has die scratch inside the cap and the chip on the forehead Al be it hard to see with the condition of the coin. Has tripling on the reverse as well. It's rarity if my Guess is correct is R-4 and has the scarce A1g reverse...?

The picture of the 7 in the date shows the doubling on the inside of the vertical shaft as well.

I'm sorry about so many of my own replies, I'm just excited to think I've found something good and need help confirming. The E in E Pluribus Unum is also Doubled up and to the right.
