My Canon T3 died a while back. Took me a while but I finally replaced it with a T6.

Here are my first couple shots with it.

Did you have to upgrade the soft ware as well or did the T3 soft ware work?

Thanks all!

They are both pretty similar in their features and ease of use. The T6 has more mega pixels and as a result produces noticeably clearer photos. Both will tether to my laptop and allow me to use live view mode. I guess the one big difference would be the wireless capability that the T6 has. I can transfer photos from my camera to my mobiles device using a wireless connection.

I use the lens that came with the camera. The 18-55mm Macro Lens. AI also attached a 10mm tube extender for whole coin close ups. I have has people tell me I need a big expensive macro lens but I find the 18-55mm macro lens with tube extenders works great for whole coin shots and extreme close ups.

My laptop did not recognize the T6 when I first connected it. I did have to go to the Canon website and DL the newest version of the Canon Utilities program. It was free and easy to dl and install. Once done it worked fine.
