Do you photograph the coins stored in your coin tubes? If so, how? I'm upgrading some of my photos, but I don't look forward to taking new pictures of the coins in my tubes. In the past, I photographed the contents of each tube by fitting as many coins together as I could in each picture, as you can see below. I found this to be the easiest method, even though it's still very time consuming. Since the contents of my tubes can change and the coins are of low value, I'm not concerned with closeup, detailed shots. But I do want to get a general sense of what's in each tube to go along with my itemized inventory. So I'm interested in hearing how others do this, if at all.

It's a confusing question. Do you mean photographing the tubes themselves, or the coins inside? And why do you use the terminology "coin tubes" if you mean coins? What is the meaning of "coin tubes" that is different from "coins"?

I don't photograph miscellaneous coins in my 90% silver stack, or circulated common coins taken from circulation. These all reside in coin tubes. I have around 300 1964 quarters, for example, and I can't see the value in photographing them.

I do individually photograph all coins in my gold/platinum/palladium stack, even though most of these coins aren't very interesting.

You're right I didn't clarify my question very well. I meant photographing the coins inside the tubes (although anyone is welcome to share that they photograph the physical tube too). In my mind when I'm talking about my "coin tubes," I relate the term "coin tubes" with both the tube itself and the coins inside. I apologize for the confusion and will adjust my OP.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing pepactonius and Coinfrog. I had a feeling it wasn't a common practice. Most of my tubes are coins pulled from circulation (like pepactonius), world coins, or sets waiting to be stored in 2x2s or albums (when funds permit).
