This coin was supposedly purchased in 1960 and was has the same holder since then.

Is it a restrike? How can you tell?

Also what are premiums usually on the 20 pesos? I always thought they were more just bullion value but do people tend to pay high premiums for these?

Considering that the main portion of the series that was made and dated appropriately was from 1917-1921, I feel that every coin dated 1959 is in essence a re-strike. Sure there were some that were made in 1959 and dated 1959, but that is only 1% of the quantity dated 1959 and made in the 60's.

As such, 1959's do not carry much BV premium, maybe 4-5% over if it's in MS.

Yeah I know there were only 13,000 supposedly made in 1959 and starting making restrict as of 1960. The old man who bought this says he got it in 1960 and wen straight into the holder and into his deposit box. It looks different than some of the restricts I've seen by the way the letters are but from what I've seen on the internet the restrict from 1960-71 had the same dye. I saw a post under NGC that said they can't even tell the difference so they consider everything a restrike?

I don't think those staples were made before November, 1961.
