Can anyone help me identify this ancient coin? I don't even know where to start and just spent a long time searching on ebay to see if I could spot one like it but couldn't find an exact match. Hopefully someone here that know's Ancient coins can help me out. Photo's are all the same coin, I just tried to get the light to shine a little differnt on it in the 2nd set.

@qktbird, can you please also post the diameter and weight of this piece? With the horse/rider, it reminds me of the bronzes of Macedonia. I'm not very sure about that, but I know that others will weigh in soon and set you on the right pathway.

Hi Spence, I just checked it out and it weighs 5.1g and the diameter is 16.1mm in one direction and 17.0mm in the other. Hope this helps! I don't know anything about ancient coins and had no idea where to start on trying to identify it. I figured I could probably find someone here that could identify it or give me an idea where to start. Normally I would have taken it to a local coin show on the weekend, but those are all cancelled with this virus stuff going around.

It could be from Macedon and Philip II.

Thanks for the link Paul. That one does look kind of similar but I'm not sure if it's a match. The tail on the horse looks a bit different and then the rider on mine almost looks like they are standing. I tried searching that type of coin to see if anything was a closer match and I didn't see anything.

Anyone else have any ideas on what this coin may be? Please let me know.

Thanks Micha.....I wasn't sure if that was it or not and nobody else confirmed it so I was just looking for other's thoughts as well. It just looked a little different but the AV was the closest looking similarity. Thanks for confirming you believe that his identification was correct. I tried clicking the link you provided, but it didn't work. Can you re-post it or edit the post so I can check it out. Thanks!
