Hi everyone, I have a large coin collection I need help grading please. I have all the pre decimal pennies including 3x1920's, 1925 I don't have 1930 or 1946. Almost all half pennies and a lot of sixpence and Threepence and florins. If I post clear photos are you able to help me with your grading opinions please?

Start with a few pics (not all 200). That should give you a basic idea of grading standards.

First of all, please have your coins facing upwards - not side ways, I have to bend my neck.
Second of all, some are harshly cleaned, but from what I see.
1946 ½d Cleaned fine 1945 ½d Badly stained VG - gVG 1942S 3d - gFine 1942 3d - Very good 1931 1d - VF - gVF , not a bad piece, traces of lustre 1920 pennies (both) - Between VG and Fine 1925 Penny - Fine, but badly cleaned and stained.
However you have some rare dates there.
1920 pennies have a few varieties and a couple are scarce, not sure which though.
Your 1925 penny is very rare and is catalogued at $250AUD in that condition, however there is a chance its an altered date and I can see telltale marks of removed digits underneath (Possibly 1930s) - I would get this coin examined by an expert. I could be wrong and these are wear marks and you will have a very collectible coin there.
It's a key date in the Australian series and if the rest of your coins are like these, I think you really should consider taking up numismatics with a focus on Australian pre decimal coins.
the 1931 penny is also a scarce semi key date and if real, would be in the region of $30 or so
Your 1942 3d that is not S is also fairly scarce.
I would take them to be checked by a real dealer as that 1925 penny gives me the collywobbles.
1945/46 Halfpennies are pretty common and worth cents each.
Hope this helps.

1946 ½d VF discoloured 1945 ½d No grade 1942S 3d - VF 1942 3d - Fine 1931 1d - gVF 1920 pennies VG - Fine 1925 Penny - Fine - discoloured
The 1920 pennies are the more common versions. The 1925 penny is genuine

agree with echidna however youll be hard press to get the $250 Cat Value on the 1925 penny sold one that I had in about a F range for alot lower.
1925 could be clean but that would be quite old clean (as cleaning usually causes surface to look brighter and flat), more than likely just old staining

Ryurazu - I was going on the prices listed in the McDonald catalogue, being a few years out of date (2009) and of course $250 does not mean you will get $250 for it.
I should have explained that clearer I guess, my guess is they might $100 - $150 depending on demand.

Yes,that's a more realistic amount these days,I've purchased 3 1925's since Xmas all below A$90 but they will take off again in value once this Corona drama is over later this year or next. ebay has some good buys at the moment as demand drops off, there are the usual sellers that are dreaming with their ridiculous asking prices but amongst all that some Coins slip by at bargain prices.

Novice coin - do you have any more you want to show. The 1925 and 1931 have whetted my appetite and make me think you have some other great stuff lurking in there.
Any 1910 silver and KGV silver is always worth a look along with nice KGVI and QE2.
