A full horn natural date 21-S is worth several hundred dollars. If you paid 22$ for this, and it is not a restored date coin, you got a heck of a deal!
I'm guessing it has been chemically restored and then possibly whizzed to try and hide the restoration.

Obverse is clearly whizzed. Details coin.

Yes, it looked cleaned to me too. But figured it should be worth $22. What would you folks value it as a details coin?

I'm guessing you could double your money if someone really needed a problem hole filler. It's definitely only a hole filler for sure. Having it slabbed is ideal, but will kill any potential profits, it would be a break even coin at that point. Still a key date. You didn't get hurt at $22 for sure.

Quote: only a hole filler That's what I bought it for... It wasn't so obvious that it was cleaned from the pics on ebay (surprise!). At least my 1921-S hole is filled now.

Restored Buffalo nickles are not easy to pin down for value. Some people hate them and others think they are great. If you like it, then its worth the $22.

For the amount of wear the date shouldn't be that strong. My guess is this is an acid treated coin. Possibly both sides. Just a hole filler now.
