came across this 1998 LMC with a very large extra column to the right of the 7th column. Can't find any reference for this particular extra column, what do you guys think?

The bays are level with the field, so if the coin is polished on the column area, if it touches the bay are and gets reduced, then on the coins that area will be raised. Most of the DDR's on the bays are more in the center of the bay areas. (less appted to be affected by polishing. (1993 and 1994 are probably the years this happened the most)

Well, I don't think it's plate shift doubling and it's not MD, so the only other thing that comes to mind is...could a linear plating blister conform to the shape and direction of the column during the striking procedure?... have you tried depressing it? Other than that, looks to straight to be polish line... I got nothing.....good luck...

Thanks for the feedback guys, I feel like this one is different. I have tried depressing it and nothing, just seems like a copy of the pillar to the left of it. Thanks again though!

It could possibly be a doubled die but I'm thinking it's just a stain. Can you get an angle that light reflects off it?.

Hey Kloccwork! Thanks for the response, I will get better angles when I get home later on. I also sent the pictures to Dr. Wiles and he requested I send in the coin. Will post later
