My other silver nickels dont look like this. The others look dark.

@brett, we see a wide array of surface staining and toning on these silver War Nickels. I think that your '43-D is more attractive than most.

Brett , when you have a question about a coin you have to show us full coin photos of obverse and reverse . It will better help us to determine what's going on with that coin . From the little that I can see , your coin is worn with some damage . It also looks like it was cleaned long ago and someone started to artificially tone it .
I'm giving this assessment because a worn circulated War Nickel virtually never turns a rainbow color .

I consider it unusual.
Most rainbow toning on nickels are light in color (pastels).
But being a War Nickel can cause it to tone a bit differently.

It's been cleaned and is re-toning with iridescent colors.

I'd say it was cleaned at some point. Whatever was used to clean it colored it odd.
