1978 D DDO Lincoln Memorial cent with clear doubling on the word Liberty. Slightly on the East and heavily on the r. I've tried to research the internet for such coin but turn up no luck. Am I safe to assume that I have the only one?   |

IMO you have a cent worth exactly that, one cent...Sorry but the R just looks like it has taken a hit..aka PMD (post mint damage) However to CCF good luck on future finds have fun...  |

This is not a DDO. The R has indeed taken a hit which has created two "R"s in a sense. This is because something has squashed down half of the R, making it look like there are two "R"s when it reality it's just one that has been squashed. |

Hard to see it clearly in any of the pictures you posted, but in the one under the magnifying glass it looks like the doubled R is flattened, which makes me suspect either Machine Doubling or damage, neither of which would add value. |

to the CCF! As stated your cent took an unfortunate hit pushing the metal west giving the appearance of doubling. If you take a look at another 78 cent you'll see the sizes are different. The one one your cent will be of smaller size. |

I'm on the PSD train. The R took a hit which pushed the top part of the copper to the west while leaving the lower portion in place. (Plus it wouldn't hurt to extend an apology to GreasyFingers. A closer look on your part was the thing to do, especially since this is a well-circulated coin with lots of dings and marks.) Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

If it were a doubled die, the other devices would be showing nearly the same thing. (Certain doubled dies are different from the nine different types of doubled dies.) if one device is altered, its usually damaged, just like your coin. Contact marks, Machine Doubling, found in a parking lot and even some are intentionally damaged. This type of damage renders the coin to just face value, or melt value on silver coins. While they look different, they are not a mint error. |

I'm workingn on getting a clearer pic but there is slight doubling on the E and y as well...

This coin is worth nothing but 1 cent. Go out and continue to search for errors, do not let this coin keep holding you back. There is no need for anymore pictures. Move on.
