I believe he thinks there is an error there, or something is going on with the ear.

Looks like nothing more than wear and damage of the die to me.

Well it was a statement. At first it looked to be doubled ear. Sorry I didn't put it in a form of a question.

Just took a hit to the ear. If it were an doubled ear lobe, the ear would be raised as high as the normal air height. Not flattened down:
