Westcoin, that is an interesting backstory you've got there.
I also own a nice silver round copy of the Gobrecht, which is likely as close as I'll get to owning one barring a lottery win.

Thanks, I agree, I'll need to win the Lotto before I'm buying a Gobrecht pattern coin too. The one I looked at almost getting was $5500 IIRC - it was a long time ago, it's probably a $35K+ coin today. It was about 30 years ago, so a $1K increase in value each year is about right.

These are nice. When I get one it will be a 1838 in a no problem pf-6x holder. These seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately so opportunity may arise.

I also see you can save $10K by ordering direct off their website and not ebay! LOL

These guys (Numismatic Financial Corporation) have some other much more affordable Gobrecht patterns also for under $40K, and a few super Two Cent patterns that caught my eye, if I only had a few hundred thousand extra laying around, dang it.

No, I don't want it. #1 it is a restrike and somewhat beaten, #2 I prefer the unadorned obverse without the stars of the earlier years. I think I could have a lot more fun with that much money.

I already traded her in on some old coins.

Sold the house never bought another one. Now I'm too poor to get another one, renting now.

At least the coins don't argue with me, take an hour to get ready before going out of the house or tell me to put the toilet seat down.
