Gee... now everyone is finding all this cool stuff... after I did the 70th edition Charlton small cent variety section!! This is great stuff - I am thrilled to see folks picking up their loupes and looking for something new!! I have a bunch of BU rolls from 1976... when I get around to cracking them, I'll let you know if I find anything!!

Good work JohnWayne007. I think I am going to need a more powerful loop to begin checking all my rolls.

Quote: Gee... now everyone is finding all this cool stuff... after I did the 70th edition Charlton small cent variety section!! SPP-Ottawa I agree, this one would have looked very nice beside the 1967, it is interesting because this 1976 is the complete opposite of the 1967. The 1967 has more visible doubling on the right side legend (D-G- Regina), and the 1976 has more visible doubling on the left side of the legend (Elizabeth II). Just an interesting anomaly I noticed, I spent the last 48 hours searching over 100 1976 solid date rolls with no sign of finding another one, I only had 5 BU rolls that also did not show any doubling. This DDO has proven to be difficult to acquire another so I would most certainly be interested in knowing what you come up with when you crack your BU rolls. Quote: Awesome find! SamCoin, thank you, once my website is up and running I will be letting everyone on here know, I have received a few emails regarding my site and asking for early access but it will be worth the wait. It will be Mobile friendly as well with a members area where collectors can create a wish list with pop reports and be offered more extensive in depth documentations not available to Non-memebers (membership will be free). The website is not meant or intended to generate a profit but I will have things on there that collectors can choose to do like donate, purchase coin flips, holders, Microscopes ect. All proceeds that are generated will be used to keep the website up and running with updated content-rich information daily, This is all I am revealing for now.

fourmack, unfortunately what you are seeing on your coin is Machine Doubling and not a Doubled Die, the 1976 DDO is not an easy one to find to say the least, I have gone through 6 BU Rolls, and 12 circulated 1976 solid date rolls with none of them being a 1976 DDO, not to mention the 10,000 (4 boxes) of circulated mixed pennies I searched this month. I found this on a complete fluke after finding two of the 1975 DDO's and decided to look on surrounding years like 1974 and 1976 and managed to find the 1976 DDO example in the photos I provided, so I do know there are more out there because they couldn't have only minted one so I plan to keep looking and encourage others to do the same when they are coin roll hunting.

Quote: So when will the website be ready? I'm getting board Very soon, I have been busy getting things ready for my book to start being printed, and I manage the site by myself on my free time while adding more content. I'm planning to have the site up by the end of the month, hopefully sooner!

Quick update, 67,500 circulated cents later (27 boxes) I finally managed to pull a second example out of circulation. Unfortunately, my cellphone is broken so I cannot add full coin images at the moment and my microscope does not take full images very well. Now there are TWO known examples to date. This is not including all of the BU rolls I have searched, I can confidently say that this doubled die is one of the hardest modern Canadian doubled dies you can find on the small cents.
