One wild looking dime here. Has anyone seen anything similar, or have any clue as to what might have caused this coins condition?

Harsh environmental tarnishing, perhaps buried in the ground, perhaps spending time in the bottom of a coffee cup holder (in a car). Lots of ways to tarnish, no good way to restore. Spend it.
