So over the past several years I have finished a few of the Dansco Albums and really enjoyed using them. But, I have always had issues with the plastic slides and wished that I could pull the coin out to look at them more closely.

However, yesterday I stumbled across Caps Albums. Does anyone have any experience with these albums? What are you likes, dislikes, and could you share a few photos of your albums?

Thanks in advance!

I like them.

I like that I can take the coins out whenever I want and not worry about messing them up. The coins are inserted and removed individually, so handling one does not disturb the rest. The pages are labeled on both sides by default. The coins are offset from the page, which is great for coins with edge lettering (e.g. newer dollars).

The main downside is that they're expensive. The cheaper albums are on par with Dansco albums, but you still need the airtite holders to buy as well. The pages aren't quite as nice either, resembling plastic clamshell packaging. And the coins can be a little difficult to remove at times.

They're good for your top level collection, your uncirculated, proofs, and expensive coins. But they are likely overkill if you collect common and well-circulated coins, like Memorial cents.

This is my Innovation Dollar album:

And bulky.

So far I only use CAPS albums for ASEs (you can see some photos in the 2nd link jbuck posted). And be prepared to at some of Debrajc's albums!

I also think they are a very good storage solution. I keep several series of modern US Mint medals in them - I even had some custom pages made!

I'd never seen these before- I may have to consider using them for my higher quality sets. I've never been a fan of traditional albums for longterm storage.

I have never had a problem with my Dansco albums (nearly 36 years now), but I would not call those sets "higher quality."

My first Ike set is in Dansco, but the newly built "high-end" set is in PCGS slabs.

Now this topic has me considering starting a third set in CAPS.

True. The portion of the album full of coins I posted above is roughly the size of a Dansco, and there are another two rows to fill.

Just a heads up, the CAPS album includes holes for the 1990 and 2013 commemoratives.

Yep, as it should (IMHO). Debrajc has a fantastic Ike CAPS in one of those links that shows off the commemoratives.

That is good to know!

My PCGS set has the same requirements. However, it also includes the four 2015 Presidential dollars.

There's plenty of space on the last page to include the Ike Presidential dollars. But you'd need to use capsules with rings inserts to maintain the correct size, which would mean you couldn't see the edge lettering.

Now that presents a challenge.

I am still in the proposal stage. Probably not going to happen this year if it does.
