I'm not sure, but I think a kid busted up Dad's 1968 proof set and this was loose in circulation for a very, very short time. If it isn't a proof, it is a rare find and should be sent for grading. Either way, a real nice nickel!
Is this a Proof or Business strike coin? Hmm!.. I'm leaning towards the Proof mainly because the "S" mint mark is more open at the top than the Business stuck coin. I may be wrong on that assumption but I do believe the S-mint mark is the clue to it being a Proof Coin. Anyhow's it's a toned beauty giving it at least a grade of PF-68 which is pretty high but worthy of that designation. Great Find!
