Hi we have a 1929 Canadian One Cent, but it is not copper. I tried for two hours to upload a picture, but cannot do it. so have decided to see if anyone knows of this coin being anything other than copper. Silver, nickel, zinc, steel ? thank you for your help

What is the weight of the coin?

I'm skeptical of EVERYTHING. My first thought is that some one had it chromed dipped. Did you know that you can dip anything into liquid chrome and have it "chromed". Lets see what others have to say

Looks plated with something to me, as far as I know only one king George V small struck on a dime planchet is known.

Time for an XRF, it's way underweight if your scale is correct

My first thought is plated, as it looks to be the same diameter as a normal 1929 cent and is stuck just as well too.
Can you post a photo of the edge and of the other side?

Color and weight suggests aluminum - seems unlikely. Better photos needed.

Full collar, full strike... so I am suspect... something just looks off. Can you post a photo of both sides, straight on at the coin?

Possibly fake?, I say it with respect to the OP, but look at the date compared to the copper, the eyes of the 9's look far too big, the numbers in general look bigger than the ones on the copper, if you look at "CENT" the "T" on the coin in question is longer, the N's don't match and the entire details of the reverse look far too large. Not to mention it looks as if it was just made.
Better pictures may clear up most of what I pointed out, but I'm no expert, I just like to pick at details and point things out.

Bit of discolouration on the rim, I suspect it is zinc plated, but also might have been coated with either a silver or mercury wash.
Either way, given the nature of the strike, it looks like a normal coin that has been coated.

The RCM didn't strike any foreign coins in 1929..

Again, find the weight .. the 2 g that you stated before is over 30% light. If nothing else, get a balance scale and measure it against a copper '29.
