Today Fedex left several thousand dollars worth of bullion in front of my door (unsecured) where anyone could have taken it, and shipment required signature. The tracking record says it was signed for....NOT! I was home all morning and no one even knocked. Someone should lose their job over this. I'm sure if I complained to FedEx it just be a waste of my time. This shipment came from kitco and I informed them, with the amount of business they do perhaps they will change shippers assuming I'm not only one with this FedEx issue. Here in Canada, Canada Post has suspended the signature requirement for the duration of the Covid emergency. However, when I did get such a parcel the letter carrier rang my bell.

Nobody signs during covid, they (fedex, ups, purolator, Amazon, etc....) drop parcel, take a pic and leave.

None of the delivery services have asked for a signature here in a couple of years, at least -- USPS, UPS, FedEx have all left "signature required" packages by the door without one, and no one rings the doorbell even for the smallest of packages. Someone is always home and our cameras let us know when there's activity at the door so there's only about a minute when they're just sitting outside, and with Tracking I know what's coming and when. Still, it's not very comforting that it happens.

Also, please keep in mind that FEDEX and others don't know the contents of any packages, therefore while in this instance it was several thousand in bullion, for all the driver knew, it could been a package full of XYZ Widgets. And if you read the legalese on their shipping doc's and website, it says don't send cash or money etc... I'm just glad that the bullion didn't get pinched by a porch pirate and that everything worked out well.

"Nobody signs during covid, they (fedex, ups, purolator, Amazon, etc....) drop parcel, take a pic and leave.". Not true in US. I receive FedEx and usps packages all the time and if it is insured or requires signature I've had to sign with this one exception which was a derelict FedEx employee who fraudulently stated on the tracking that I signed for it.

I was ready to sign for a UPS pkg last week and the driver said "no need for that during this pandemic". He went on his merry way, happy as a lark, as usual. At least he seems to like his job!

They leave a note for me so I can pick it up at my local post office, good thing my local post office is within 5 miles radius.

Happened to me too. I've since taken to putting a little Post It note on the door politely asking the delivery person to safe drop it in a discrete little box beside the front steps. Amazon literally threw (I heard the THUD) two packages onto my doorstep on Friday. Knock on wood, I've still never lost a package of any kind.

I waited all day for a delivery a month ago or so , so I could "Sign" ... UPS I think it was. No need to sign they said when they delivered it... I was like...ok then lol... meanwhile 1000s of oz of silver and gold are just siting on door steps across the world for the taking. Apparently...

Now USPS is leaving packages that are "signature required" without a signature. It was only a $3,000 coin that they fraudulently claimed was signed for.
