I think this is a struck thru. The C in independence hall is missing, the star under the A in hall missing. The bottom side of the building is missing or smeared, there is a hole between the dates. Not sure if that was a hardness test hole or of it got struck with something. What do you all think?.

The Rev is also rotated approximately 45 degrees clock wise.

Maybe a minor Struck Through Grease. No real premium for it, though. As for the die rotation, that could be more interesting. Can you take a picture of the coin held up to a mirror so we can see the alignment of both sides at once?

Perfect image. Nice find on the rotation. The Struck Through Grease error is minor, but the rotation is the bigger ticket item for this coin.

Reverse is rotated considerably more than 45 degrees. Looks more like 135 degrees counterclockwise. Notice in the reflection the obverse is upright. If the rotation was normal the rev would be upside down. Instead its about 45 degrees off of upright.

Very nice rotation--one of the best I've seen on halves.

Yes, that is far more than 45 degrees. Correct rotation is for both sides to be opposite in rotation, this is closer to 135 degrees as was said. Incredible find!

I wasn't sure if they measured the rotation one direction or if they went from both directions. So thx for clearing that up. I heard one time some said the rotation is clock wise ( from obverse side) wasn't sure if that was right.

Thx, I actually got this coin in a blue Ike pack. I bought a dozen 73 blue Ike's and it was in one of the blue envelopes.
