I have searched on this forum and see that the flat clinch type is recommended for flips. Do these use standard staples? Also, as an alternative, how are those mini staplers for this use? I know those use smaller staples.

Staples brand One Touch Flat Clinch Stapler.
'Bout $10
Nice and handy size.
Had mine for years now, uses regular staples, still works perfectly.

I use a regular heavy duty stapler and do my own crimping.
For me the crimping part takes channel locks.

I also have a Max Flat-Clinch HD-50DFBK, which uses standard staples. It's worth the investment.

I sort of borrowed a Swingline stapler from work. Uses standard staples and I just pinch then with a pair of pliers.
