Can't say anything on authenticity, but I do know large bronze Roman coins similar in size to this one do exist, though I doubt they were for everyday commerce.

Real or not I would like to have something like this some day.

Probably meant to be a paperweight or desk decoration. Athenian tetradrachms all weigh almost 17g on the money and are rarely as large as a half dollar.
