I've had this note for quite a while and wondering if anyone know whether the stamped "LPR41" is something official during the checking, print run, etc or if I've just got a note someone's devalued by whacking some random purple letters on it at some stage :)

I believe being prefix BZ96 it's a test note so maybe something official during production or checking?

Cheers for any suggestions.

It is a moneychanger's stamp.

In Australia, it is illegal for banks, shops, private individuals or anyone else to place any kind of mark or stamp on a note. However, this law does not apply overseas. Money exchangers, particularly in Asia, are in the habit of placing these small marks onto banknotes that they handle.

You can see similar stamps on Australian notes in these threads:

Yeah,Asian Money Exchangers stamp,Western Union and Casino's(some/many illegal) in Asia for eg.
I was told this tells the counting staff the Note is genuine and doesn't have to be inspected again but there are probably multiple reasons.
