Hey guys! Found this cool looking nickel in my change, and immediately thought it looked like a Struck Through Grease. Since I'm still learning, would love to get thoughts on this coin?
The lines at an angle are called rolling lines. Why are these not a woody? Note the highest points on the coin. They are worn off the coin. On a woody these lines remain even through the coin wear. They are in the planchet. Rolling lines are on the surface of the planchet. (appear as the mint finish is worn off the coin, and wear off in later circulation. These lines are on the planchet, but not in the planchet)
