I think is market acceptable from a old cleaning.

I don't see any evidence of cleaning. I think it's an absolute stunner. Is it slightly circulated? Possibly, but no less than AU-58++, and a coin I'd love to own. Show me a better one.

Most likely cleaned a long time ago, but has retoned nicely. Probably was placed in a bookshelf album after cleaning and resided there a long time to get the toning it now has.
I think it's AU and has a 50% chance of scoring a straight grade.
If y'all like it, buy it!

Nice looking quarter with attractive toning. I don't see evidence of cleaning. Does lack luster so I would be at AU-55 not AU-58.

Do see where some of you folks suggest cleaning at some point? It very well could have been cleaned some years ago. Anyhow, we respect everyone's opinion and hopefully we can land this coin and perhaps have it TPG. An Au type straight grade may be worth the investment. Take Care & Much Appreciated!

Quote: Probably was placed in a bookshelf album after cleaning and resided there a long time to get the toning it now has. This exactly. Certainly not hairlined to death, but probably something more than a dip... a "wipe" of some sort. Yeah, AU55-ish detail; borderline whether it would grade straight. I wonder if the bust isn't a tad bright in hand... and I wonder a bit about the in-hand look of the faint vertical microscratches or wipemarks on the cheek (scrunch down a bit and look at the photo from "underneath" it a bit - right in the area around the cheek tics). Overall, though, it caught nice even album tone and looks to be an overall attractive piece. Is the seller looking for AU money or closer to UNC money?

I'm in the AU58 camp as well. Very nice example.
