The 42D is somewhat difficult to pick out on a circulated uncleaned coin. The crud and tarnish covers the definition you look for. I just don't see a difference other than a tiny protrusion at the bottom front tip of the 2. Is that where I am supposed to be looking? I have hoarded every 1942 american coin I can get my hands on for years so I would assume, out of the bunch I have, its possible there's one in there and maybe I am missing it. All the other years that have overdates I have never quite been able to pick out. I just save anything from the proper year in case I have one. lol Report this Post to the Staff

nlp coins Pillar of the Community United States 2373 Posts	Posted 11/10/2008 08:26 am Malissa, yes the protrusion below the 2 is a key recognizable spot to focus on. It's actually the bottom of the one underneath. The 4 is hard to see on an average circulated coin. Tarnish hides the imprint of the 4. When I first got this I had to run home and open all the rolls I had to see if I missed one. Well, I didn't but could have very easily. nlp Report this Post to the Staff
