Was looking through some dimes this morning and I came across this.

I know its small but I still thought it was interesting enough to share.

Broken second "E" in Elizabeth.

Thank you, hugoenglish. I use a USB Microscope that I got off ebay, this is just my temporary microscope until my better one shows up. I am also using my CoinCone attachment that filters the 8 LED lights and also acts as a stand.

Here is another photo with both E's side by side so everyone can see the difference between the normal E and the broken E.

A little suggestion, with your skills in photos and passion for errors, why don't you make a catalog of major errors, it's sorely missed in Canada. Due to way coins are produced minor errors like this happens all the time, I mentioned earlier that when has a recent auction mentions Zeol's catalog of mainly minor errors. I believe you are trying to make a 2020 version of Zeol's catalog, although cool, just a suggestion.

Thank you for the suggestion john100, this is something that has been put on my agenda recently and is something I have been considering.

My family owns a printing company and with the amount of available options and skills I have on hand (printing, publishing/advertising ect) it is something I can most certainly accomplish.

The only road bump I would run into currently is the lack of Major errors I have on hand, to make it possible I would have to outsource some of these errors from a reliable source that can provide clear enough photos as every book and volume I will be producing will be in full color.

There are some errors I would like to include that I just simply cannot acquire, however I do have a few collectors in mind that may be willing to help out.

Most of the best Canadian errors are in PCGS or NGC holders, and guessing that about a dozen or less error collectors owns most of the coolest examples.

I have a question regarding the origin of this error.
What is the root cause of this broken E?

For sur is not a die chip, since this error has a convex shape.

The other option is a "Filled die". A small section of the "E" is obscured foreign matter.

Do you see something else?

It is a punch break error.

You can find this type of error on:
2017 Canada 150 Loon Dollar, Lighthouse Stripe, 2012 special K nickel, 2012 ribbon logo (which I am still searching for :( ) etc...
