Or it could be struck through debris, like a flake off another coin? If it were debris, then the coin would be normal weight after it peeled off. If it were a lam, the the weight would be slightly less than normal. (Slightly different, but on a large struck through debris could make a big difference, same for a lamination. Just showing the two lines of thinking.)
